Later this summer, Sting plans to release a new album featuring "reimagined" versions of some of his best-known songs. Our first taste of it comes with a new version of 1999's "Brand New Day," which is now available for streaming and download.
During his performance Monday night on Fox's New Year's Eve telecast, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer debuted his new version of "Brand New Day," which boasts a modernized arrangement courtesy of Grammy-winning DJ, remixer and producer Dave Audé.
Sting's decision to rework the song 20 years after the fact was prompted by his desire to encourage a feeling of hope and unity as the new year began. And "Brand New Day" is just the first of several well-known tunes that Sting will be revisiting on his upcoming My Songs tour, which kicks off June 1 in Europe.

Not that I'm endorsing this release, but I think Sting has made some interesting (and far flung) choices in recent years... musical theater, touring with Peter Gabriel, writing and recording with Shaggy, etc.
None of it truly essential, IMO, but not exactly resting on his laurels.

john,
i 100% agree.
and it is happening all over the place.
what's the chance of another re-working of 'roxanne'?
and please do not misunderstand my feelings....i love sting and the police, i think his first 2 solo albums are stunning, and the lyrics on 'nothing like the sun' are borderline classical.
but man, the last few years, whew, just horrible.....with botti, with a symphony, with a lute, with christmas carols, and i don't even know what to call the horrendous "the last ship"........and '57th and 9th" his big return to rock.........sad, so sad.

At least Billy Joel admitted he was tapped out creatively and dispensed with the pretense of making new studio albums.

I'm now wondering which version of Don't Stand So Close To Me he'll re-imagine? Will it be a re-imaging of the original or a re-imagining of the 1986 re-recorded re-imagining?
The 1986 version, of course, being the original re-imagining of the song.

I'm hoping for the latter.
He should bring in some rap/hip hop artist to help.

I was just talking to my wife this morning about Sting and Don Henley how once they were putting out hit albums and then one day poof, its over. Now Don relies on The Eagles machine and Sting tours with Peter Gabriel or just curls up in a ball and plays his lute.
