I'm surprised Cummings is allowing this. Does the drummer own the name?
Yes, that's why when Bachman and Cummings recorded and toured together about ten to twelve years ago, they were billed as Bachman Cummings, rather than the Guess Who.

Wow.
Peterson and Jim Cale both own the rights to the name. It seems Cale is now out of the picture for the touring band so they brought in the "metal bassist". Do they do Quiet Riot songs along with These Eyes and Share the Land?

No, this is wrong.
Cleopatra put out the recent album by The Gin Blossoms, a great band that no other label wanted. They've released new material by The Damned, The Vibrators, many other artists who don't have all their members but still have loyal audiences.
I'm glad somebody was willing to give this Guess Who a chance to do something new rather than the umpteenth album of "re-recordings" or "live greatest hits". And you should be happy too, because next time it might be a release by a group you're interested in.

Well that is a very good rhetorical. Love my Linda!

Banned on the run
I've seen this version live a few times, and it was always a good time. I saw them when Peterson and Kale both toured, then there was a show where Kale told us that he'd be stepping away from touring and he brought out Sarzo for a song or two.
I look at it this way - the same as the current Jefferson Starship (only David Freiberg) - if the price is right, I'll still go and have fun.
Jefferson Starship are FREE here next weekend, along with Eddie Money, so yeah, I'll be there.

Oh wow. That's a really nice pop song. If the album is like this, I'm in.
This reminds me more than anything else of how things went for The Bay City Rollers. Having lost their star but still owning the group name, they brought in a new lead singer and songwriter, and they reinvented themselves as a legitimate power pop group. (Elevator is still one of my favourite albums of all time.) Good as the new material was, too many people dismissed it out of hand because of their past. That's exactly what's been happening in this thread.

Funny, because the fantastic Elevator came to mind as I listened to this clip.
