On October 26th, David Crosby will release Here If You Listen, his fourth solo album in five years. It’s an unexpected run that proves his musical passion to be as powerful as ever. With Here If You Listen, the 77-year-old singer/songwriter continues the singular creative streak, delivering one of his most joyfully adventurous albums yet in a career that spans six auspicious decades. On Here If You Listen, Crosby again joins forces with the three musicians who helped lend his 2016 album Lighthouse- and the tour in support of the album - its captivating grace: Michael League of Snarky Puppy, Michelle Willis and Becca Stevens (Crosby’s “Lighthouse” band). But in a purposeful departure from Lighthouse,Here If You Listen emerges as a highly collaborative effort, with all four artists trading off lead vocals and bringing their distinct songwriting to the mix.

“If leaving a group like Crosby, Stills & Nash was like jumping off a cliff, then finding the Lighthouse Band was like growing wings halfway down,” says Crosby. “These three people are so startlingly talented, I literally couldn’t resist making this album with them.”

Produced by League and co-produced by Stevens, Willis and Crosby, Here If You Listen bears a stripped-down, acoustically driven sound centered on the band’s stunning harmonies. But despite its sonic simplicity and minimal percussion, the album unfolds in infinitely shifting textures that find each musician tapping into their own carefully honed palette and idiosyncratic sensibilities. “The songs are taking on all of our collective influences, which is kind of crazy if you think about it—hearing the influence of Björk on a song with David Crosby lyrics, for example,” League notes.

With most of the album written collaboratively in League’s Brooklyn studio Atlantic Sound, Here If You Listen matches its intricate arrangements with lyrics both raw in emotion and rich in insight. Attuned to the chaos of the present day but visionary in perspective, the songs question, challenge, and demand self-reflection just as often as they illuminate and soothe.

From song to song, Here If You Listen radiates the palpable sense of joy and wonder each musician brought to the album’s creation. “I love that it genuinely sounds like what happened: four people from different backgrounds with mutual respect and commitment to their work, coming together to create something they found meaningful,” says Willis.

David Crosby announced a new run of U.S. concerts for summer and spring 2018. In April, the legendary singer-songwriter will begin recording his next solo LP. Last year, he released Sky Trails, his third album in four years.

Crosby's 21-date trek launches May 19th in Tulsa, Oklahoma and concludes June 29th with a show at Morrison, Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre alongside the Avett Brothers. The jaunt also includes one-off gigs with Alison Krauss (June 6th in Vienna, Virginia) and Mary Chapin Carpenter and Chris Hillman (June 16th in Lenox, Massachusetts).

The former CSNY member is set to appear on Harry Shearer's upcoming album as Spinal Tap member Derek Smalls, Smalls Change. The LP, out April 13th, also features guest spots from Steely Dan's Donald Fagen, Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith, former Yes member Rick Wakeman, Dweezil Zappa, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

Last month, Crosby joined another all-star line-up – including Chris Thile, Laura Mvula and Snarky Puppy – for an evening of protest songs at New York City's Carnegie Hall.

That's the hotel that inspired Steven King's "The Shining". I visited there in 1981 and the locals had a major issue with the portrayal of the story and the hotel. Except for the old hippie guy who had the t-shirt store. He was the only one who openly talked about all that went on.

Other than The Byrds, this is the most "band sounding" (as opposed to sounding like DC) album he's ever done (& that includes the CPR's); but I definitely like it. Crosby's songs with CSN sound much more like the DC I'm used to then this does; this is truly a band album (though released as a solo album!)

The more i play of this the more I get blown away.

This. Is. Crosby's. Best. Album. In. Decades.

The only other artist in their 70's I know of who's still making new music this vital is Jeff Beck.

Out of the 3 cuts previewed here, I like "Vagrants Of Venice" the least. I like the music, but I don't care for the vocal. Croz' vocal seems to be buried. It seems like the vocal is mixed too low. I do like the other 2 tracks a lot.
