Description
Latest in the long-running International Pop Overthrow series.

Omnivore Recordings and The International Pop Overthrow Music Festival are proud to present IPO Vol. 21, a three-disc compilation featuring 69 tracks by artists from all over the world who have played the International Pop Overthrow festival…along with some who haven’t.

The IPO compilation goes back as far as the festival, to 1998 when Volume 1 was a single disc. Since then, the comp had expanded to two discs the following year, and then three discs in 2002 for Volume 5, and it has remained a three-disc set through 2018. IPO Volume 21 showcases artists from 13 different countries, doing just about every sub-genre of pop music, including power pop, pop/rock, folk/pop, psychedelic pop, garage, indie-rock, modern rock, etc., making it one of the most well-rounded compilations available to the general public.

Although the International Pop Overthrow festival is essentially a showcase for unsigned bands, the compilation has featured some signed acts, and some who have gone on to be signed. These include:
Jason Falkner
Brendan Benson
Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. (Jellyfish, Imperial Drag)
AM Radio
Marvin Etzioni (Lone Justice)
Shoes (power pop legends!)

Among those acts on Vol. 21 to watch out for include:
In Deed (power pop from Uppsala, Sweden)
Kai Danzberg (Jellyfish-influenced singer/songwriter from Hannover, Germany)
Chris Price (singer/songwriter/producer extraordinaire, from Los Angeles)
The Parson Red Heads (gorgeous indie-rock from Portland, Oregon)
Caper Clowns (power pop from Odensk, Denmark)
Green Seagull (psychedelic pop from London)
Sue Hedges (award winning singer/songwriter from Liverpool)
Burgess Meredith (up-and-coming young indie-rock band from Austin, TX)

When mainstream pop/rock fans are played any volume of the IPO compilation, their first response is invariably “this is great; I had no idea people were still making music like this!.” Well, they certainly are, and you can find some of the best examples of it on IPO Volume 21!

Got my copy at night #1 of the 21st Los Angeles International Pop Overthrow.
Saw some great bands last night including Sitcom Neighbor, Blake Jones & the Trike Shop, and one of my favorites, Michael Simmons from sparkle*jets u.k.
