>> Kaiser Chiefs were one the great musical success stories of 2005. Fast forward to 2007 and Kaiser Chiefs (Ricky Wilson - lead vocals), Andrew "Whitey" White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass), Nick "Peanut" Baines (keyboards) and Nick Hodgson (drums and vocals) are about to unveil their much anticipated second album.

Yours Truly, Angry Mob wields its musical might from the start in the shape of "Ruby" - an infectious single to rival anything the band have done before. "Angry Mob", a favorite from the band's European festival appearances last year is destined to be a universal fan favorite. "Heat Dies Down" will surely have 'em pogoing in the aisles en masse, while the stunning "Everything Is Average Nowadays" is perhaps the thread linking Yours Truly... with its predecessor. Yours Truly, Angry Mob, as one band member has been heard to utter, "is an album full of big choruses and even bigger guitars". Maybe so. It's also the work of a band hitting their creative stride. All hail the Chiefs!

Deluxe Version Includes: Hard Back Digipak with 24 page booklet DVD containing 6 live tracks recorded in Berlin last year. 10 minute documentary on the recording of Yours Truly, Angry Mob. Audio CD (same track listing as regular version). <<

I saw this at J&R today, noticed that this deluxe edition had one extra track on the CD too. $9.99 is a great price.

I just can't get into these guys, although I've tried a great deal. I seem to be in the minority for sure though.

Good price on that.

J&R should stand for "Jimbo & Renny" at this point, no?

You like this mob? A mate of mine at work is still good friends with the keyboardist, with whom he went to university. Apparently, the group are a bunch of arseholes.

They're rock stars. They're supposed to be.

FYI, the Best Buy edition of the regular Kaiser Chiefs disc contains three bonus tracks: "The Angry Mob (Live from Berlin)," "I Like to Fight" and "From the Neck Down." It also comes with a "free" single containing two additional bonus tracks -- "Everthing is Average Nowadays (Live in Berlin)" and "Admire You" -- along with the video for "Ruby." The effectively gives you all the bonus material from the European singles, I believe. Note that it's a quirky ring-up at check out. The "free disc," which contains a coupon good for $2 off the full CD, is labeled at and scans at $1.99, then the coupon takes off $3.99 instead of $2, giving you the $7.99 disc for $4. So it comes out to $5.99 for everything. Best Buy also carries the Deluxe edition, but it has none of the bonus tracks included on the Best Buy regular edition, and it isn't on sale.

Ha! I had a slightly different experience that worked out the same way. I "bought" the CD single/coupon a week ago, but it rang up at $0.00. Then when the full CD was released it deducted $2.00, so it came out to the same $5.99 for everything.

BTW, the deluxe edition lists a song titled "Boxing Champ" which is not on the standard US CD.

I got that 5.99 deal (6.49 with tax) at BB too.

The 2 disc version was 14.99, but I don't know what would have happened at check-out.

Anything is possible at Best Buy. We could go to the register with the $1.99 disc, the $7.99 regular edition and the $14.99 DVD pack, and the only thing that's certain is the combined package would ring up somewhere between free and $24.97 -- and that there would be different totals at different stores.

Since nobody had seemed to mention the actual music-this is a really enjoyable album from strat to finish especially the single "Ruby" which is played all the time on MTV2 and the title track. Yet another fantastic new Post Wave band or whatever stupid term is out there from the UK!

It is, indeed, a very good CD that gets stronger with repreated listening. Many excellent tracks, and the b-sides are good as well, especially "From the Neck Down," which sounds like a gonzo cross between Madness and Beautiful South.
Speaking of great new music from the UK, has anyone else discovered The Feeling? Fans of 10cc, Raspberries, Queen and even Beach Boys would find lots to love on their debut. Got the UK CD last summer and, to me, it was the best disc I bought in all of '06. It came out here the last week of February and is a cheapie (about $10 most places). Note, however, that the sleepy and somewhat atypical single, "Sewn," is one of the disc's lesser lights. Its the uptempo songs like "I Want You Now" and "Fill My Little World" that are, for me at least, sensational.
