First day buyer. Kansas sounds better than it has in years. They had something to prove that Walsh wasn't the be-all, end-all. They survived without Robbie and Kerry. They did just fine without Walsh.

Kansas wasn't doing anything until Steve Walsh quit. All of a sudden they've got new life and the new album, "The Prelude Implicit", sounds great. You might want to consider giving them another chance, because the new vocalist is really good.

I would then be right behind you Mark in a our virtual line for purchase. I really loved their last studio album. God Bless them!

No doubt. Steve can't help that, but it was still sad to hear his voice taking a dump after all these years.
Not to mention, Rich Williams said Steve didn't want to make new music, hence Native Window. Rich also said it was fun to make their latest disc. I think Walsh held them back due to his not wanting to record.

Yep, that's well-documented that Walsh refused to do new music.
Platt has such a great voice for Kansas and the new album was really, really strong.
These guys have been riding a new high for a years now and it's great to see new albums and tours in larger venues for the first time in a long time.

I just ordered The Prelude Implicit and will get this album as well. I remember really liking "Vinyl Confessions" when John Elefante joined them so I figured let's see what this new lead singer can bring to the table.

Saw Kansas and met them on the Cruise To The Edge and yes, they still sound fantastic. The new lead singer does the job and they still have that sound.

You'll like Prelude much better than Vinyl.... that much I can say. Is Prelude better than their 70's big stuff? Nope, but it gives that stuff a run for the money.
The last really good Kansas disc was Monolith. The 2000 reunion album Somewhere To Elsewhere was pretty damn good. A couple of the songs were kinda 'meh.' Oh, and Somewhere To Elsewhere was pretty heavy in spots. Rich Williams is a very underrated guitarist.

I think the last great album was In The Spirit of Things and I loved Power.
Monolith was a real gem.
The 2 albums with Elefante were both good, but the radio-friendly direction they were headed with Audio-visions which I never cared for.
Somewhere to Elsewhere I found very, very labored, long and dull.
I'm also not much of a Rich Williams fan.
He's OK, but Kerry Livgren was dynamite.
Having Zak Risvi in the band now helps Williams a lot.
Prelude Implicit is their best in decades and it comes very close to the traditional way of Kansas writing and playing.

I have both of those (Japan shm) and, to me, they both have their moments. All I Wanted from Power is the ultimate power ballad. Stand Beside Me from Spirit was my fave tune.

Man, that album is at the top for me. I also saw them on that tour

I differ. The first one with John was good. The second one wasn't.

Again, I differ. But that's what sells records.

I've always like Williams. He doesn't get the credit he should. He was the true sound of Kansas guitar. The meat wall.

I was on the elevator with Rich Williams and his wife on the Cruise To The Edge, he seems like a very serious dude. Can't joke with him like I could with Geoff Downes.
