I agree. The cover art is fine and understated. Not quite as graphic
as BEACH BOYS LOVE YOU but personally, I don't object at all.
I really don't think we need to see a cover photo of 6 old men in their 60s
wearing baseball caps and you know what? - That's their logo. They
were "branded" long ago and accept it - end of story. I am a "professional" and
you people are so fussy and negative.
I am looking forward to Friday's show and the album in June.

Not to be fussy but Mike Love is 71.

Brian Wilson (turns 70 in June) and Al Jardine are both 69.

Grabbed my ZinePak at Wally World at lunchtime today. It's not unlike a smaller format version of a tour program, with the CD in a slot in the front cover and the postcards in a slot in the backcover. They had about 6 copies at the store where I found it.

I like the cover art too. The single is decent enough and the setlist is very impressive. So far, this reunion seems pretty well thought out.

I did the same at the store closest to my office about 5:30. It had two when I got there and, as crowded as the store was, I'd be surprised if there are any now. Nice little addition to the BB collection.

For some reason its missing from this list but the Beach Boys tour will pass thru Jones Beach NY on June 24th!
If the weather nice that evening, I may drop in.

My daughter and her boyfriend were nice enough to grab the Walmart package for me tonight! They said there were several copies available.

I'll check out my Walmart, doubt any of the people that shop,there listen to the Beach Boys.

Agreed! I picked up a copy at WalMart last night - they had about 10 copies in an endcap rack of new releases. Nice little package to celebrate this anniversary! 6 of the songs are in stereo - 5 in mono. I really like the new version of "Do It Again" - perfect song for the occasion & it's nice to have it in stereo!

Regarding the Walmart package, I was curious if there is a decent amount of text in the zine, and if it's a good read.

A couple things -

1. I've noticed in several interviews regarding the new record, various members mention song titles that aren't showing up in the final track listing. There's an Al Jardine song called "Waves of Love" which is supposed to contain leftover vocals from Carl Wilson, plus a Bruce Johnston song called "She Believes in Love Again." Hopefully these will be available in some outlet at a later time.

2. Capitol / EMI has serviced my site (iconfetch.com) with a preview copy of the new record. Only had it for a few days, but right off - it's incredible. Seriously, it's the best thing they've done in 40 years. It's that good. I've included a link to my blog about it below.

"Waves of Love" is a bonus track on Jardine's new solo album, A Postcard From California.

Discorama threw me a good old-fashioned promo CD single of the title track, "That's Why God Made the Radio." Jewel box, full artwork, real CD (not CD-r).

The Alan Jardine solo CD blew past my expectations. Well worth the $10.00 its goes for.
