I've watched it too many times to count, so I'm voting Plan 9, because there is just something lovable about Ed Wood and his enthusiasm that makes it even funnier. You could tell he really just wanted to make entertaining films that people would enjoy watching, just like the ones he enjoyed in his childhood. There are some really fascinating ideas floating around in the chaos of his work.

I do love Battlefield Earth, though, but in a different way. Nothing lovable about Travolta or especially Hubbard. Plus, Ed Wood has the excuse of working in the late 1950s. The fact that Travolta could be so dumb in 1999 is astounding.

I feel kind of guilty for never having seen Plan 9. It seems like it's pretty essential viewing.

I noticed there is a new deluxe release out. I was this close to getting it at Best Buy the other day, but sprang for Brain Age on the Nintendo DS instead.

You make it sound as if it were an agonzing choice! Heck, if I had to watch one of the following movies:

Gandhi
Gone With The Wind
Persuasion
The English Patient
An American In Paris
Crash
Out of Africa
Rain Man
American Beauty
Plan 9 From Outer Space

Then I would GLADLY watch Plan 9! This is a fun movie I can watch over and over again! My jaw continually drops at the bad dialogue and the cheesy special effects. Were that more serious Oscar winners were as much fun to watch as this film! :yay: :ohyes: :yay: :ohyes: :yay:

I've been able to sit through Plan 9 plenty of times. I've never been able to make it all the way through Battlefield Earth.

Plan 9 is the one I'd watch, I don't know what they thought they were making with Battlefield: Earth, but it wasn't good.

At one time I'd rented BATTLEFIELD EARTH (knowing its reputation), but never watched it.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE is easily the most watchable of Edward D. Wood Jr.'s movies. THE SINISTER URGE is second (if you don't count THE VIOLENT YEARS which was supposedly only written by Ed Wood).

Having seen both, I picked Battlefield Earth purely for the sake of its hilarity. If you're gonna watch a movie because you're being forced at gunpoint, you may as well watch one that can make you laugh.
