I had Octopus soup for lunch.

For the third time this week.

Leftovers from Christmas Eve.

Yum. I would not have thought so, but, yes, YUM.

Once Christmas is over, I have no desire to eat Octopus soup. It's one of those "holidays only" foods for me.

Really, your family has Octopus soup at this time of year, too?

Oh, I could tell that was serious. I can't tell for sure if you were really asking me if I eat OCTOPUS SOUP as a Christmas treat.

It's a Portuguese thing. My better half's family is from Portugal and her mother makes it every Christmas eve. I dunno, maybe you's got some Portuguese in you too!

See? There's even an ethnic/nationality angle. No wonder my Spidey/sense was tingling.

When I got out of bed this morning, I had never heard of "Octopus Soup." Much less in a casual "leftovers from Christmas" context. Glad it was tasty.

I had some calamari before dinner last night...And a bacon-wrapped scallop. Good stuff.

Slimy, chewy, rubbery food on Christmas?

Where do I sign up?!

(This should turn into a "strangest food you've ever eaten" thread, pronto. Of course, the Texans will win. Them and the Floridians. But we won't let that spoil our fun.)

I'm all about eating things that live in the water, particularly if they have shells and/or beaks. Scales? Not as much. But give me any variety of sea bug and I'm looking for the butter and lemons.

It takes ALL KINDS OF OCTUPI*,
ALL KINDS OF OCTUPI*,
ALL KINDS OF OCTUPI*,
to make an octopus, an octopus SOUP!

*the actual spelling is "octopuses" but it didn't fit in the song

I'll have another bowl in the next couple of days, maybe even today for lunch, but the nice thing about it is that it's not slimy, chewy, nor rubbery! (Is my grammar correct?) It's really good. It's weird, I know, buy very, very ... yummy. :)
