Derek Jacobi actually played the role twice;in "Utopia" and in the animated Scream of the Shalka.

Anthony Ainley was the guy portraying the character when I was growing up and actually watching the show, so I chose him. I saw the Delgado portrayal years later and loved it, but Ainley is the "real" one to me. ;)

Delgado had such a wonderful sense of humor. Ainley was just angry.

Gomez is a relatively close second. Apparently, it helps to have a Spanish surname.
