Quote:
Announced in 2012, after Superman: Unbound, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation's next animated feature now has a full title, release date, and the first official description and casting information.

Revealed exclusively to Newsarama, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox will hit Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, OnDemand, and Digital Download on July 30, 2013, taking the 2011 DC Comics series Flashpoint into the world of animation. That comic book series, by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, served as the impetus for the "New 52" relaunch of the DC Comics universe later that year.

The storyline will mirror that of the comics, and we have Warner Bros. Animation's official description for you here.

"When time travel allows a past wrong to be righted for The Flash and his family, the ripples of the event prove disastrous as a fractured, alternate reality now exists where a Justice League never formed, and even Superman is nowhere to be found. Teaming with a grittier, more violent Dark Knight and Cyborg, Flash races to restore the continuity of his original timeline while this new world is ravaged by a fierce war between Wonder Woman's Amazons and Aquaman’s Atlanteans. With breath taking action and an all-star voice cast, it's a bold, emotional vision that will forever change the landscape of the DC Universe."

While we can't reveal the full cast just yet (and we wish we could), we can share a few. Kevin Conroy leaked his return to the role of Batman in the film, and WBA confirmed the actor will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the non-Flashpoint era sections of the film. Ron Perlman will be back as Slade Wilson, Deathstroke, Dana Delany returns to Lois Lane. We can also announce that Vanessa Marshall, no stranger to superhero animation having played Mary Jane Watson, Black Canary, Black Widow, Poison Ivy, and more, will be reprising her role from Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths as Wonder Woman. Other pivotal castings including Flash, Cyborg, Reverse Flash, Aquaman, and Thomas Wayne/Batman will be revealed soon.

Along with the casting, release date, and description, see the first official still from The Flashpoint Paradox to your right, featuring The Flash in action.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox comes from DC Entertainment, Warner Bros Animation and Warner Bros Home Entertainment July 30, 2013.

So they're rebooting their animated universe?

Good timing for Timm to have stepped down.

So, the final nail in the coffin of the PreNu52 Universe is being hammered in.
I guess I'll have to live at least another 18 years so I'm here for the next reboot.
Maybe I'll get my DCU back then.

A great jumping off point, then.

Well, I'm not sure how a barely connected animated universe can be rebooted, so this should be less annoying than its comic book counterpart.

Except for the costumes. We are surely getting the new ones from now on.

I don't think this is a reboot of the DC Animated Universe per se, just a DC movie. To the best of my knowledge the DC Animated Universe is not actually active and the current DC animation are all unconnected to each other and as such cannot be rebooted. Although the presence of Kevin Conroy does hint that this is related to the DC Animated Universe, he does also voice the character in the Arkham Asylum video game series which stand on their own so there is no reason at this time to think that this is not intended to do so as well.

They try to use Conroy as much as they can because he's awesome.

Well, either they're going to keep re-telling older stories with the original characters, or they're going to start telling original stories with the new characters, or adapt the Nu52 stories. I can't see them telling new stories with the old characters.

I don't think that any two DC direct to DVD features are in the same exact continuity.

I'm less concerned about a "reboot" and more concerned about Timm leaving. I still have nightmares from that Brainiac Attacks fiasco that they did without Timm.

The ending of Flashpoint could be considered the endpoint for the old DC.
If so, I really like the way it ended.

I never saw "Brainiac Attacks," but I agree with everything in this post.

Public Enemies and Apocalypse are the only two that comes to mind. Maybe Green Lantern and Emerald Knights, too.

Even though it had Tim Daley and Dana Delaney, it's just about unwatchable.

And Clancy Brown as a "silly" Luthor.

No, it wasn't Clancy Brown, it was .... had to look this up, Powers Booth. Silly, yes, and extremely grating. Ugh.

I remember their being surprisingly impressed with it. I could see that happening, if you had never seen the series.

I just watched the four part climax to JLU Season 2, with the "Question Authority"-"Flashpoint"-"Panic in the Sky"-"Divided We Fall" episodes. I wish they'd edit those together into a feature film. Cinemark is showing the Star Trek Next Generation "Best of Both Worlds" two-parter in their theaters. I wish they'd do that with more "big" TV episodes.
