I love the American Heroes Channel
http://www.ahctv.com/It's heavily oriented to war history programming, using actual footage plus computer graphics simulations based on historical records. They have interview footage from the fighting men of WWII. They have transcripts of interviews and narrators read from them. They have info about the weapons, aircraft, and ships.
They have shows about the Wild West, Nazis, the Mafia, everything. Some things that are like those Kook Shows on History channel.
My favorite shows are:
Against the Odds ( great heroic triumphs under impossible circumstances)
WWII's Greatest Raids (the one about the Rangers at Pointe Du Hoc is incredible.
WWII in Color
Greatest Tank Battles
Air Aces.
Finally, the invention of television is fulfilling its destiny and potential.
