If you'd like to participate, wear an avatar picturing Mr. Spock, Star Trek or anything at all to do with Leonard Nimoy's many projects.

OK, I'm in. This is going to be an unusual avatar, but here's what it looks like full size. The joke is that somebody was imagining what poster modern blockbusters would have used if they were made in the 50's or 60's. This guy imagined that a Die Hard made around the time Leonard Nimoy was making Star Trek (or just after) would have cast him as John McCain instead of Bruce Willis.

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its 5-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. Live long and prosper.

How about Karl Urban as Judge Dredd.

One more thing---the last time I had a memorial avatar, I stuck with it way too long. I have a deep respect for Leonard Nimoy and I don't want to offend anybody by making the same mistake. As soon as I know that this "weekend" is over, I'll switch back to the Ted Williams avatar.

While I'm sure Nimoy could have played the former presidential candidate and current senator John McCain, I don't think he was in Die Hard.

You know if McCain had only had the courage to use "Yippeekiyah, mother ******" as a campaign slogan, he (or Sarah Palin) might be President right now. As successful as Nimoy's career was after Star Trek, I'm sure he would have loved to have had the success Bruce Willis had after Die Hard. A better selection for a period actor to take the place of Willis would have been either Steve McQueen or Paul Newman, both of whom starred in The Towering Inferno.

I'll step away from my Flash avatar for this weekend. His loss saddens me significantly.

Me-TV is having a Nimoy tribute Sunday evening (March 1st.) featuring his appearances in such programs as Columbo and Mission:Impossible.
