No, son. old movies came out before I was born. That movie was "a few years ago".

Heh. No... the ones you say are old, I say are classic. Old to me are movies that came out when I was a kid. They don't necessary make it to classic yet.

Yup. THAT Michael Crichton! He's said that he bagan writing Jurassic Park a few years after directing this movie and ended up putting it away for nearly a decade because he felt it was too similar to Westworld.

He had a decent career going as a director there for a while. Westworld was his first movie, Coma was his second, and The Great Train Robbery with Sean Connery was his third.

Then he had Susan Dey get naked for Looker (pretty much a crap movie), then had Magnum P.I. chase after Gene Simmons in Runaway (more crap), and his last movie was Physical Evidence, which I've never seen. The 80s were not always a kind decade for movies, and it seems like Crichton is especially vulnerable to being completely dumbed down for the Big Screen.

Ugh. Runaway. The only redeeming part of that movie was the Kirstie Alley bit.

I liked Runaway.

Well, I liked the bullet that followed you when you ran around corners.

That was the first "Rated R" movie I saw in the theater (age 10).

I still fondly remember Siskel and Ebert mocking the heat-seeking bullets that moved so slowly that you could dodge them.

Great Train Robbery is the only one of his books that he ever directed.
