It is on Netflix. Watched the pilot two-parter and a couple of episodes last night. Other than a little bit of overwrought, wooden, over-acting (I give a pass to people who haven't got a complete feel for their character yet) it held up really well. No groaner moments or overly pompous monologuing. I am watching with Bubbles, who watched it first run, but does not remember as it was when he was about five, and Eli, who has never seen it. I am also reminded how much I liked Cardassian make-up and costuming. I think it is the neck cording that does it. Unnecessary, but very effective, visually. Probably a bitch to wear, too.

I enjoy these types of threads and look forward to your reviews.
I watched the initial seasons of DS9. I gave up on just before it got apparently good (re: the Dominion War). I still caught an episode from time to time though.

I assume it just makes them guillotine resistant. Or something.

I really liked the original conceit of the series - that is instead of being explorers, the universe came to them and they had to adapt to meet the needs of the travelers. Also this was Star Trek's first serious look at religion and how it affected a culture. It was all the more fascinating that the religion was based in science (since it was started by the wormhole aliens), yet maintained by faith.
The Dominion War was more of the "same old" to me. I know I am in the minority on this, though.
I am waiting to see if Sisko the Dog will respond to his name on the screen.
I also have the spirit of Frank watching with me. Bless him.

The nice thing about DS9 was that yeah, the first season had some slow moments and they were slow to notch up the magic---but then again, it took TNG two whole seasons to get it's act together before it got on the right track. DS9 started getting good in the second season and literally got twice as good with each season afterward and leveled off at season 6. At its best, seasons 5 and 6, I'd rank it even better than TOS. Truly, Trek at its best. but there are gems sprinkled throughout even the earliest seasons.

Keiko is awesome.
Saw the aphasia episode last night. A Bajoran booby trapped a replicator and it went off 18 years after it was set, releasing a virus into the food.
The conceit of the most crucial characters being the last to get the virus was explained away early, but still....
Anyway, it seems as though the actors are finding their footing. The chemistry between Odo and Quark is delightful. Sometimes the only person you can trust is the one you have every reason to distrust. It is in both of their best interests to keep the other one around. Yin Yang. The virus does not affect Quark, but all the other Ferengi on the station are AWOL. Hurm. Should have been a cadre of Ferengi keeping things running.

Hah! That was the one I watched the night before last. I think that was episode three, counting the two part opener, so you didn't last long at all!

If this thread is going to be positive about Keiko, then I want no part of it.

I watched the opener and never saw another episode until that tribbles one.

The Tribble episode was awesome, tho. Admit it.

The Odo/Quark relationship was one of the best parts of the series.
