I never read a Spirit Book. So I have no idea what to think.

Other than Miller seems to be doing really well, and I support that completely.

I'd prefer it if the tie were blue. And I think that thanks to Cooke's run on The Spirit, Miller could use Ebony White.

Has Miller already done something with The Spirit?

I'm worried he's going to make this too hard bolied.

Sin City with a mask.

To be a truly faithful adaptation, it must have that sense of whimsy that all the great Spirit tales had.

I strongly AWTP. I realize it's only a poster, but that poster screams "I don't get the Spirit character at all, but here's my Frank Millers Sin City version of the Spirit, just like I've been doing with Batman for a few years now".

Make that three in a row for IAWTP!

Even so, I need a trailer before I'm casting any judgements.

Oh, make no mistake, I am reserving judgement until I see a trailer.

I know Miller and Eisner forged a friendship in Eisner's later years, and I remember reading somewhere that Eisner had said something to the effect of "If they ever make that Spirit movie, I want you to be involved in it" to Miller. i know I read that somewhere, I just can't remember where.

So I am hoping his respect for the source material, and his friendship with Eisner will keep Miller on track with this film.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Given a choice between the two, I'd prefer they err on the side of "too dark" over "too campy".

Agree with Chris all the way on this.

The poster itself looks pretty cool, if a little too Sin Cityesque.

Though I'm happy Frank Miller's getting real success.

That's very cool.

I'm worried he's going to make this BAD like the Spirit was! :D

I don't care if it works better as a poster, the tie should be blue :?

That and as much as I like the style of poster art, it does not do any justice to the art in the Spirit. Aside from some obvious flaws in the art in the Spirit, I loved it, the heavy crosshatching was what stood out to me. It would have been nice to see them work with what people remember about the art in this book. Even if they do the later style with less crosshatching, it still is nothing like this.

Why should the tie be blue, when it's red in the comics?

What people remember the Spirit, though? Outside comic fandom, that is. I bet if I went up to 100 people and asked them, all 100 would give me a blank stare, unless they were comic fans already. Most people will see this as another superhero movie and have no idea of the source. A guy I work with, for instance, thought the Fantastic Four movie was a rip-off of the X-Men movies.
