I had read that Steve Ditko was very sick with TB in the 1950's. It's amazing that he's outlived most of his contemporaries and even more amazing that he continues to create thought-provoking art. Happy birthday, Mr. Ditko!

Hard to believe he's still alive after all these years.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Ditko!

How many of the "old guard" are left now? Stan and Ditko---I think Murphy Anderson is still around and technically, Romita Sr. was working in the '50's so I guess he'd still count as well.

Of the classic (pre-1965) Marvel Bullpen I think it's just down to Stan, Steve, Romita, and Larry Lieber at this point. We're down to just one classic EC artist left (Jack Davis). Aside from Hasen, are there any major Golden Age guys still around?

Sergio started doing work at MAD during the Marvel Silver Age era, and I consider him to be connected with that time. I'm enjoying the very personal, autobiographical comics he's doing now, and encourage everyone to pick up any issues of his Funnies series. Of late, his Groo vs. Conan series is also very person (he's the star of it).

Joe Giella is still with us. He started in the mid-40's and worked for Fawcett and Timely before becoming one of the unnamed Batman artists.
