My vote goes for the final fight in Rocky 4...evil Gorbachev watching plucky Rocky Balboa being pummelled for ten minutes by a man who killed Apollo Creed with one punch, before plucky Rocky (as the Russian crowd chant his name) invites further punches from this killing machine before punching him into oblivion as Talia Shire cries out "You're gonna do it!" And then Rocky delivers a speexh about changing that has to be heard to be believed.

What could be more ridiculous?

Some of you could just substitute "awesome" for "ridiculous" in my post, I know...my son would agree too because its one of his favourite films...

I think any of the scenes in Rocky IV could be seen as ludicrous. The training alone is hilarious. It's the only Rocky movie I've ever seen - and this was back in 1988 - but the whole 'training in the snow' thing was memorably insane.

Spoiler: show

Oh, wow, I'm sure there are tons of examples but can't think of any at the moment.

Although I did see Red Riding Hood yesterday...

Well, thank God your son didn't inherit your heathen communism.

Rocky IV saved us from the Cold War, you bastard.

Another scene of a similar bent is Rambo 3. At the end, Rambo faces down the whole Russian army. With a gun. "What are gonna do, John?" asks Richard McCrenna. "Fuck 'em," says Rambo and defeats them. PLEASE DONT THINK THIS IS POLITICAL IT'S JUST THAT THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT SPRING TO MIND I haven't even mentioned John Wayne saying "Truly he is the Son of God" thanks.

The whole Skull Island part of that movie was basically a video game. All you needed was a joystick to control the action. "Up! Down! Right! Left! Right!"

The scene in "Plan 9 From Outer Space" when the male alien makes a speech about the way earth people wage war on their own kind and how ignorant and primitive that kind of thinking is. His own civilization, he says, is far more advanced. Then, when his female alien counterpart interrupts to add something to his argument, he says, "Shut up woman" and slaps her.

Seriously, that movie with Jodie Foster on a plane was ruined for me. Can't really explain why without spoiling the movie, but whole premise (her daughter is missing on the plan, and everybody around her is "I don't know what you're talking about, maybe you don't have a daughter.") And it's only the smudge on the window that convinces her she is sane.

It was called Panic Flight or something.

It was Flightplan. And the imdb one line summary is as follows:

Quote:
A bereaved woman and her daughter are flying home from Berlin to America. At 30,000 feet, the child vanishes, and nobody will admit she was ever on the plane.

The payoff is ludicrously unsatisfying.

Spoiler: show
One bad guy on the plane waited until Jodie Foster nodded off, and grabbed the daughter and put her in the underneath. Everyone else? Just didn't happen to see the daughter or anything at all. And the whole bad guy plan depended on being able to grab this daughter.

One "oh, please!" moment that comes to mind was towards the end of the 1996 Mission: Impossible movie. Tom Cruise was on top of the train being chased by a helicopter in a tunnel. Okay, I'll buy that. The copter's on fire and out of control. Yup, I'm still fine with that. Then, the out-of-control copter's rotor stops inches short of Tom's throat. Nope, that's too much for me. At that point, it went from action flick to cartoon for me.
