Oh, my dad would have noticed. He could figure things out based on small details like Sherlock Holmes. He once determined that a car's owner, whom he had never met, was married and worked as a nurse in a certain hospital just by looking at her car. He could also look at my brother's car and tell where he had been...and that he had been out driving around while he should have been studying.

When I read that story the first time (in an old issue I found; I'm not this old), it fooled me...but not for the reason given. Color misprints were so common back then that I just figured they screwed it up, right to the last panels there.
