Comedian David Brenner, a regular on Johnny Carson's "The Tonight Show," has died after a battle with cancer, a family spokesman said Saturday. He was 78.

I met him when I lived in Vegas. He was a lovely man. R.I.P.

Sorry to hear this. I saw one of his HBO specials and became a fan.

That's a shame, he was a funny guy. When I was a dumb kid I would often confuse him with other frequent Tonight Show guest, David Steinberg.

...you're in Guam!

Oh… I wouldn't have thought that he was that old.
But then, I guess I'be gotten pretty old, too.

I went to camp with his nephew. Met him at some comedy clubs too. A great guy!

Alas. RIP.

Once saw Brenner live, opening for Sonny and Cher (which gives you an idea of how long ago it was). In a HUGE room, loaded with people who'd come to see the headliners and didn't know him from Adam, he killed.

I can still remember one of his gags, about flying on an airline that "made 17 stops ... in Nevada."
