The eternal question....
The even-numbered ones really are the best, until #X.Then the next (odd-numbered ) one was great,so does this mean the pattern has reversed itself,or---dare we hope---we'll get two good Trek movies in a row?(Yes,we did.)

Star Trek (2009) is the only one I own and the only one I've seen more than once, so that gets my vote.

Abrams Trek makes my wife compulsively watch any time it's on cable. I couldn't get her to sit through any of the other iterations except for First Contact, and she said that was "boring".

It seems bizarre that the question would ever not be phrased, "Best Trek movie, After Wrath of Khan"...

My answer is the fourth one, the one with the whale. I wasn't sick with boredom during that one.

AS sick.

Because the 2009 movie is better. Khan is an entertaining flick, but not as good as a lot of Trekkies try to claim.

I was wondering who voted for that one. That one was a favorite of mine as a kid. I rewatched it a few years back and was profoundly disappointed.

I just don't get it, apparently. I'll probably forever be in the minority then, but I think the 2009 Trek movie was pretty awful, really, and while it's pretty in special effects and fast paced action, its story is the worst piece of crap in a long Trek. Its science is so bad, it shouldn't even be called science fiction, but simply fiction, kind of.

Lest anyone think this, I'm not such a die-hard fan of TOS that I'll hate anything other than TOS and the original actors, but honestly, this movie blows. The illogic, the implausible, the foolish, the impractical, the impossible, the improbable, etc. it's in there. There's just so damn much of it, even if you like the movie, I don't see why some can't seem to admit it's rife with flaws and problems. It sucks. I mean, I'm glad whatever it has appeals to a wider audience so wives and girlfriends like it too, but I suspect they could have had all that and not crapped on logic if they were real Trek fans and knew how to do science fiction properly. Start with a good story, perhaps. That might have helped.

BTW, I guess Wrath is the best one, IMO.

The 2009 film completely missed the point of Star Trek.

One of the reasons I like it so much.

Oh, because Star Trek has always had such good science.

We are talking about the show in which a slingshot around a sun can transport you back in time, right? The same show where two species from different parts of the galaxy can reproduce?

Is there anything in Star Trek 2009 that is honestly more absurd than either of those premises? One of which I might add has been a somewhat important part of the plot since day 1.

I'd also argue that the story is the tightest of any of the movies since Khan.

I have not actually seen Undiscovered Country, but from the ones I have seen it certainly is way up there.

It wasn't my vote. I didn't vote. Like I didn't vote on most compassionate mass murderer. Or most interesting book about tofu. Or least painful torture administered by Genghis Khan.

The Voyage Home can't be the best Star Trek movie because the Enterprise wasn't trekking through the stars.
