Is this speculation or are they actually talking about a remake?

nope... THEY ARE in the plans of a remake...

Let's see if our choices end up being better or worse than executives that are incharge of the remake...

I thought this was a joke, but evidentally Hollywood IS making a remake.

It's no wonder that movies today with original screenplays tend to be independent
films with small budgets. Hollywood films which do have original screenplays tend
to be comedies. Movies like Inglourious Basterds or Avatar are more the exception
than the rule. :sigh:

Why do I think somebody in Hollywood is already planning on filming a remake of
House or The Mentalist in 2030?

That reminds me. I'm tempted to read this book, which is probably an easier read than
the James Joyce novel it is partly based on:

Hollywood is creatively bankrupt!!!

They will only get into the water IF that water is familiar or has been used before...

ex. KICKASS was pitched to hollywood... hollywood said no... Kickass was made independently... now hollywood paid DOUBLE to be allowed to touch Kickass's coat-tail...

AND...

DJ Qualls is FREAKINGLY AWESOME choice for Gilligan...

George Clooney would be awesome too, if he played the Professor with dry english wit...

Anyone know of any fat actors for the Skipper?

AND...

What are the odds that Hollywood is going to BOOMER one of the characters into the opposite sex... or even a noticeably different skin color (like KINGPIN in Daredevil) or nationality (like SUSAN STORM in the FF movies)?

Scary...

Zach Galifianakis? Too young?

John Goodman? Too old?

Tom Arnold? Too McHale's Navy?

I could imagine George Clooney as the Professor, but I don't think he'd be a good Skipper. He'd also be a great Thurston Howell III, come to think of it.

I was also thinking Meryl Streep for Lovey.

Clooney could be a good Professor, too, but I like the kind of sideways casting of him as the Skipper. He has this broad comedic side - see "Oh Brother" - that could really work.

John Goodman was my second choice - but he has this darker side - again see "Oh Brother" and "Barton Fink" - that could work or could be scary.

Hah! Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep as the Howells would be a hoot! A reprise of Mama Mia!

I have a feeling that if they do Boomer type casting it would be Ginger. Perhaps Zoe Saldana.
