Scottish comic book writer Alan Grant passed away today aged 73.
His work on Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and other 2000 AD strips is brilliant, but most will remember his collaboration with Norm Breyfogle from 1987 - 1993 on Detective Comics, Batman and Batman: Shadow of the Bat. His Batman career spanned 1987 1999 and he was instrumental in major stories / crossovers through the 90s.
I think he is one of the best Batman writers we've had, and one of his legacies is the characters he created that still resonate: The Ventriloquist, Anarky and Mr. Zsasz.
He also did great work for DC on L.E.G.I.O.N, The Demon and developed Lobo as a character in various series.

RIP. Read and enjoyed much of his Batman work with Breyfogle.

Rest in peace. I think the only thing I have read is the first four issues of SHADOW OF THE BAT, but I found them very memorable and well done.
