I am getting a commission from Allan Goldman. It's up to 5 characters with background and pencils only for $230 on 11x17

My idea was a sort of DC vs Marvel fight with Grifter and Backlash vs Cable and Winter Soldier. I just got back Allan's 3 prelims and wanted to get opinions on the prelims he sent me.

Which is your favorite?

Looking at the layouts a second time it appears he didn't understand. He's got the Marvel characters fighting each other and the DC Wildstorm ones doing the same.

He must have read a lot of Marvel comics. :)

After talking to Allan's rep, and me noticing that I was too vague in the initial request, we've come up with a solution. We are going to switch Grifter and the Winter Soldier in all three prelim layouts. So I've replaced the images in the First post with the newly labelled ones.

Coin toss. They're all so good.

Yeah. Each one is great on it's own, whic is making it hard for me to choose.

#2 is the most dynamic layout.

Also: It's comforting to know that there are still artists out there that actually do layouts for a commission.

Two is the most dynamic but the first gives you a nice shot of all the characters (in the other layouts, they seem too far in the background).

Voted for #2, which is the most interesting layout to me. Although I think #3 might make for better (clearer) depictions of the characters.

I picked #3.
I'm glad to hear how Goldman works, I plan on commissioning him also.

The response from his rep was pretty quickly and once I gave him my request, I got the 3 prelims in a few hours.

It's almost as if he's treating this like a job he's being paid for instead of a favor he doesn't really want to do.

3. But I'd make it Superman vs Thor and Spider-man vs Batman.

It was a toss up for me between 2 and 3 from the beginning. 1 seemed a little to conventional and not enough action. I've decided I like the action and layout of 2 the best. Thanks for the input everyone.

I just got sent a scan of the finished piece and the invoice to pay. It looks great IMO. Now the long wait for shipping from Brazil.
