When JSA first came out I had hopes for him. Now I believe he is no better than the rest of them. After Infinite Crisis, which I thought was one of the worst plotted an written series ever, I thought he was heading down. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt and blamed it on editorial interference. But after reading JSA 3, I don't buy that argument any longer. Was it necessary to kill of all those Golden Age characters and their families? I am very disappointed right now.

Allen, I couldn't agree more. For a while there, prior to IC, I was a major Geoff Johns fanboy. Since IC, I have become very disillusioned by him and quite distrustful in fact.
He's not the great writer I thought he was... he can write nice character moments, but his stories just don't stick with me (i.e. they're forgettable). Moreso, I have been turned off by his gratuitous use of "one screen" violence. I think he's titillating the fanboys who want this stuff, but this fanboy don't.

Johns has become infatuated with dismemberment. I've made this point a few times before, and it's not what I want to see.

Honestly, guys, I'm not so sure about comics anymore. There are only a couple I look forward to each month and those are mostly Vertigo books (Fables, Y The Last Man, and Jack of Fables) and the Walking Dead. Looking through Marvel solicits just makes me sad and the DC stuff pretty much just makes me say, "eh". Too many events, not enough fun.

I never thought he was that good to begin with. I found his Flash boring and his Avengers a mess. I do kinda like Green Lantern though,

Me too i lose faith in Goef Johns during Infinite Crisis. Too much violence, too much bad taste.

Not only that, if you re-read his JSA you see that every "great" storyline is always resolved in the lamest, magical, make up something out of your ass solution.

I tend to agree, Wayne. The ones I look forward to the most are Detective (as long as Dini stays), Y the Last Man, Spider-Girl, and that's about it. Used to be anxious to get JSA, Birds of Prey, and a number of others, but I'm losing interest in the way they're going (JSA is still ok, but not as good). I don't even look at Marvel anymore other than Spider-Girl, not for a couple of years now. It's fascinating to see how many titles I dropped in the last two years, without picking up anything to "replace" them.

PLEASE TRY INVINCIBLE it fills the huge void in monthly superhero comics for me since both Marvel and DC seem determined to not produce FUN comics anymore. it might be a leap of faith for some but i think you may enjoy it as much as i do. just to get an idea what kind of books i am digging- Dr. Strange the oath, Justice, agents of atlas and the great tom strong (sorry to see it gone)

It is a very good old-school comic.

Johns are okay. I try to stay away from puplic ones, though. Especially at gas stations and rest stops.

Johns' tendency towards graphic violence in his comics has really begun to bother me. Some scenes in his books would be R-rated if they were films.

I still like his JSA. Titans is slipping though.
His current Superman series is good too.
Johns is still A-OK in my book.

I think he spread himself too thin writing the monthlies and IC and the Blade TV show all at the same time. I noticed it most in IC and Teen Titans.
I still enjoy his JSoA and Green Lantern and I think his books will get better once his lighter schedule allows him to concentrate more on his ideas and less about churning out the scripts on time.
