In today's NY Times crossword, the answer to 1 Across was 'HARPY', and my first thought was Jason and the Argonauts.

Legendary, iconic; in this case, totally appropriate adjectives.

First Men in the Moon was one of the reasons I wanted to be an astronaut. It holds up very well.

Viewing "Jason and the Argonauts" as a child inspired me to start reading up on Greek and Roman mythology. Which helped to open up a whole world of great literature.

Bought his DVD box set a few years ago. All of his movies are essential viewing. RIP Harry.

I just watched a lot of his movies two weeks ago:
Mysterious Island
Jason and the Argonauts
Clash of the Titans
and two Sinbad movies.

Great stuff.

I always loved his stuff. It's amazing to see one man be so dominant over a particular technique.

We've lost a lot of talent recently.
Harryhausen's work was cool stuff as a kid,and it will remain cool stuff for generations to come.

RIP

Another fond memory. Saw this on the big screen in India in 1979:

The sabertooth tiger in particular. It's amazing how lifelike the movement is.
