This image still does it for me, probably because of the age I was. Saw it twice at the theater. And he's the greatest because he can stride across the twin towers, and crush something that looks like a rocket ship in his hand.

I also had that poster up in my room as a wee lad, I just recalled.
But that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I also had a poster of Meadowlark Lemon balancing Whoppers on his toe, from a free giveaway at Burger King.

I had a souvenir glass with that picture on it, Jay. I remember being upset he wasn't so large he could stride the twin towers like he appeared to be, and that he in fact didn't have a rocket in his hand. But you and Rob are both obviously wrong.

I went with Willis O'Briens must-see stop motion event of 1933, that was a classic.
Other than that poster, the only thing the '76 version has going for it is Jessica Lange. She was hot in that movie.

I'm going to go with the Peter Jackson version. All the way.

You have to pick one of the poll options, no write-ins.

Bah. I'm with Darin on this one. I thought Jackson's version was a blast.

The 70's one is my favourite.

Holy crap, I had that souvenir glass, too! Was it a Burger King giveaway or something? I always assumed he was holding the wreckage of a zeppelin or something, but it would be way too small in comparison to Kong and his girlfriend.

The 70's one has extremely dated special effects... especially that mechanical thing they had in the cage at the end. That's bad. Also the really bad blue-screen work at the end. However, it was Jessica Lang's debut and Rick Baker's performance as Kong certainly was memorable. While many of us hold that version near-and-dear, I feel the Peter Jackson version beats it in every measurable sense. We get a better female lead ("Ann Darrow" is much more intelligent, interesting and spirited than the ditzy porn star "Dwan"). Kong himself is a much more fleshed out character as well, with his own personality... unlike other interpretations. Plus, the 70's version pitted him against a really bad looking snake... while Jackson's version had him fighting V-Rexes and all kinds of fantastic menaces.

I believe that at the end of the events of the 1976 King Kong, Jack Prescott moved to Los Angeles with Dwan, but she eventually left him. He began to smoke a lot of pot, changed his name, and eventually took up bowling.

Seek out this documentary, you will thank me - it's great! I hear now they are making a new movie (non-doc) about the events in it. Who knew the world of video game record was so cut throat?

Strangely, that video was suggested to me by Netflix last night to watch online. I almost did but opted to continue watching series 1 of Sliders instead.
