I've been reading this and the companion supplement, and it's really something! If you're a fan of the Carl Barks era Scrooge stories, you'd love this. It's a real epic, and I don't think I've enjoyed a book so much in years.

It shows that Don Rosa is a worthy successor, that's for sure! And I loved the family tree.

I read the series when it came out in pamphlet form years ago. I really should get the tpb and the companion volume. I've always admired Don Rosa's efforts to match the stories of his hero, Carl Barks.

Seconded. As close to perfection as comics get.

I'm reading this now. I knew it was a highly respected and acclaimed story, but it's even better than its reputation. It's one of the best comics I've ever read. Beautiful in every aspect.

I've been reading it slowly; I don't want it to end.

The Companion? Yeah. I'm reading them chronologically.

Good move. Even though I have both, I want a hardcover with everything in chronological order and including all of his appendices. Ideally, it would also include all the Barks stories he used as reference as well. But I'm a dreamer.

I would be content with the story being easily available, not in expensive out-of-print volumes.

I now want to read some of those Carl Barks stories.

I'm astounded by the sheer imagination of Rosa. Some of the action sequences are just brilliant. I haven't been delighted by a comic this much in years.

IIRC, Fantagraphics will be releasing a series of Rosa books in the near future.

Why all of Barks and Rosa's duck books aren't available in inexpensive formats is one of
life's great mysteries.

Fantagraphics is remedying this travesty. The Barks collection is well under way and the Rosa collection begins next year. I have all of the Barks ones released so far and preorders on the two upcoming, as well as the first Rosa book.

Raf, if you've never read any Barks, you have to do yourself a favor and pick up some of them. The long adventure stories are among the best comics I have ever read. I tend to forget to bring them up in discussions here because everything is pretty superhero focused, but they are essential comics. My son (15) loves them as much as any modern Batman comics he is addicted to.
