Whenever a superhero from Marvel or DC gets its own TV show,it usually gets its own spin-off comic book done in the style of the show.Like the TV shows, sometimes these spin-offs have a better handle on the superheroes than Marvel or DC do with the "real" comics. The Brave & the Bold tie-in comic is more fun than the Mark Waid/George Perez could manage with their Brave & the Bold comic a few years back.
These TV comics aren't perfect;sometimes the stories are very underplotted, and the art,in trying to mimic the look of a TV cartoon, can look weird. What's striking about these comics is when I see comics in places other than a comics shop, often as not it's the TV comics that are presented front and center.

I love superheroes and I want to share them with kids. The only ones I ever even consider sharing are the TV shows, and possibly their comic tie in books. I would never even consider giving them a book from the "real" comics at either publisher.

Man, having kids really changed my perspective on what *I* want from a comic. I was 100% on board with comics going grim and gritty as I grew up, but now I have to clarify for my kids that some of the superhero stuff, such as Batman Begins and its sequels (when they happen to see a still of Bale in the suit), are 'Batman for Mommies and Daddies".

Which isn't a critique of the films, I love them, but I'll admit to part of me wishing they weren't as "dark" and we could enjoy them as a family. Patience, Ronny, Patience ... they'll be old enough soon enough ...

As a parent, I wouldn't have a problem giving my 11 year old 95% of what either publisher is putting out nor would I worry about giving my 6 year old 75%. But I do have difficulty buying for either of them. One book is more than the six year old's allowance.
