I didn't think I was going to like Cars because I'm not a car guy. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It isn't so much a NASCAR movie as it is a remake of Doc Hollywood.
I still voted for One Cab's Family.

What's so good about it? It obviously is inspired from the other cartoons mentioned and the story is Doc Hollywood. Plus, you have to deal with Owen Wilson's voice. Finally, and I know this is kind of a lame critique, but the Cars' world doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

There can't be too many people who remember "Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch." I viewed a sample of it a while back as part of a 1970s cartoon nostalgia collection. As with most 1970s cartoons a sample was enough! I will say this much for it, though--you can all but guarantee that childhood memories of that show were one of the influences that inspired the creators of "Cars." So ultimately some good came of it.

Cars was also very much a NASCAR movie. That's what's good about it -- it combined the Doc Hollywood story with a bunch of authentic grounding in NASCAR lore.
