I happen to know one of our region's state troopers. He says that a colleague has earned the nickname of "Batman." Apparently you don't want to be pulled over by him. On one occasion he is said to have dealt with a suspect in a vehicle by reaching through the window and dragging him out with one hand.

I've now learned that "Batman" is the trooper currently patrolling our county. Just as well that I've personally always believed in respecting the speed limit. I say more power to him. Excessive highway speed kills far too many people around here.

I guess a cowl and cape aren't police regulation?

You have to pay him extra for that, but not a whole lot extra.

Not in our state, they aren't. I think some of them still wear "Smokey Bear" hats.
