It’ll be an ongoing monthly, open-ended series. Since there isn’t a single ongoing lead character or team, it’s not really a case of the series following a particular set of adventures — we’ll be exploring the people of the city and the superhero genre, as before, and seeing what kind of stories we can tell that you just can’t get anywhere else, stories ranging from a day in the life of a sorcerer’s assistant to the ongoing relationship between Samaritan and Winged Victory, and more. We have plans to visit other planets, to reveal more about Astro City’s past, to explore the life of super-powered people who never chose to become heroes or villains, and lots more. I even intend to finally get to my talking gorilla story, and the one about the group of former kid sidekicks who get an old crime-mobile from the 40s working and head out on a road trip as they try to figure out what to do with their adult careers.

I'll probably take the opportunity to jump back on. I think the last stuff I read was the start of The Dark Age.

They've been down this "We're coming back, for realz, kiddies!" route before. I'll believe it when I see it on the stands.

Here's a book perfect for Ordway.

It is, but I don't think Busiek's worked with anyone but Ross and Anderson on Astro City, has he?

Correct. I think the only time other artists did any work on the book was pinups for the "Visitor's Guide to Astro City."

Amazing that they've kept the team intact this long.

Well, it's not like they do the book monthly, yet.

Busiek has had some major health problems which delayed this relaunch (and other comics of his).

Looking forward to this!

I seem to remember Will Blyberg inking Brent's Astro City pencils at one point. If Brent got into a jam with his Phantom Stranger duties, I think Jerry would be a great candidate to help out.

I'm really looking forward to AC's return. It's a wonderful reminder of what superhero comics could/should be. I love that many of them are done-in-one, they are solidly written and drawn, and (most of all) they're fun. What more could you ask for?

I got my copy of #1 yesterday and read it just now -- I enjoyed it. I think I'm going to read it continuously. And for those of concerned about delays, Kurt says in the column at the end that they have 11 issues ready to go.

I liked it too, even though it seemed to primarily be focused on setting the stage for future events. Also, I really couldn't stand the new character, American Chibi. She needs to vanish.

Still need to get this. Read a pretty good review on AVClub (and I had no idea they did comic reviews).

Hop on. I think it was pretty good and this could be another self-contained ongoing for all us cool kids to read and discuss.

I will at some point. Haven't decided yet if I'll add it to my pull list or get it on Comixology.

First issue wasn't bad. It came down to being among my last comics from last week that I read, because he usually fills the book with story. Makes it both fun and challenging to read.

Been real disappointed since Astor City returned as it used to be one of my favorite books. Glanced through the last one and need to re-read it but it seemed to be some kind of Luthor type becoming a transgendered heroine. Can anyone confirm?

I bailed at about issue 11. They were starting to pile up unread.

Yeah, except
Spoiler: show
the Luthor-type was a bullied teenager who was eventually inspired by the hero into becoming one him/herself.
I thought it was pretty darn good, but then I love Astro City.

Why the reason for the sex change?
