John Lithgow joins new 'Planet Of The Apes' prequel

John Lithgow has joined the cast of the new Planet Of The Apes prequel. Rise Of The Apes, which is chronologically set before Tim Burton’s 2001 remake of the original and stars Spiderman actor James Franco as a scientist who begins testing on apes to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.

After an experiement goes wrong, a war between man and ape erupts.

Lithgow will play Franco’s Alzheimer's suffering father, while Slumdog Millionaire's Frieda Pinto will co-star as a primatologist.

Rise Of The Apes has been earmarked for release in June next year.

Have to say, it makes a good argument against using primates as research subjects....

I enjoy The Simpsons send up of the original...in theatre form.

Only three periods for an ellipses.

Anyways, I am very much against using non-human primates as research subjects. I once saw a Bonobo play Ms. Pac Man, pretty well too. Most humans can't do that. These are intelligent creatures and should be afforded most of the same rights as humans.

Now before you go all "Oh, so you're saying chimps should vote, haw haw haw," please note I said "most."

Really, this movie could be really cool, even if it derives from the shit storm that was Burton's Apes. I think it is in a unique place (based on the nature of the franchise and the seeming lack of direct connection to the Burton flick) to stand and fail on its own merits rather than just being damned by association with the Burton film.

Jacob needs to decide whether microbrain is one word or two. I only mention it because of his ellipses OCD above.

It depends on context, you micro brain.

Like "awhile" and "a while."

:D

(Actually, I realized I did it differently the second time around, I just kinda liked it as one word at that moment.)

So?

Who ever said a monkey wasn't a primate?

I said a monkey wasn't a chimp, that's all.

Micro-brain.
