I remember a slice of pizza costing a quarter.

I remember when a McDonald's hamburger was 25¢, and a drink and fries were 15¢ each. They had a commercial which said "Get a full meal and change back from your dollar." (That would have been two burgers, a small fries and a small drink.) This wasn't my local McDonald's but it looked just like this:

I remember the original Play Land. Enamael painted playground fixtures shaped like the original McDonald's gang.

I also loved the annual (duh) coloring calendars. I LOVED THOSE THINGS and was mega bummed the year they stopped releasing them. :(

I can remember getting a Filet O'Fish sammich, small fry, and small Coke for $1.27. It seemed like it was "stuck" at that price forever at our local McD's. This would have been sometime around 1975 ~ 1976. That's about as far back as I can remember prices. Seems like McDonalds was always around -- I remember meeting Ronald McDonald and getting a Ronald McDonald doll from a store very similar to the one in the picture Linda posted (no snow, of course, in Southern California) -- this would have been around 1972 or so.

Other than that, it was Corn Dogs from Der Wienerschnitzel - I have no idea how much they cost, but I used to lub 'em!

Do they still have Burger Chef?

This is where my mother took me after doctor and dental visits.

They had better kid's meals than Mickey-D's!

I remember Burger Chef with Burger Chef and Jeff with their fun meals.... I miss that restaurant chain.

I remember when you could get A&W Root Beer in a frosted glass mug and when Kentucky Fried Chicken had the 7 herbs and spices...much, much better than the crappola they serve at KFC today

Jack In The Box commercials feature Rodney Allen Rippey! I dismember those, too!

I remember not be able to wait until I could go to High School because the local Burger Chef was about a block from the High School.

Never occured to me that a) I wouldn't want kid meals when I was a teenager and b) that Burger Chef would not survive that long.

EDIT: In Lousiana, the Burger Chefs would be converted to Mr. Cook. Thank you Wikipedia.

Another bit I remember. Don't recall which chain it was... maybe Burger King. But one of them had a Superbowl tie-in, where they published these little magazines describing the various Superbowls up until that point. My dad wasn't super-big on fast food (although somehow Burger Chef made the cut a fair bit), but he made a point of hitting this chain every week to get the full run... which was maybe 15 issues at the time.

Burger Chef was THE fast food place for me and my friends growing up. McDonalds was a distant second.

Burger Chef officially died in 1996, although that was just one restaurant that managed to use the courts to stay in business. The franchise died several years before... look it up on Wikipedia... the truth is out there.

I don't remember the prices much different. In fact with $1 menus and value meals, some of it is cheaper than it was then for me.

Never heard of Burger Chef.

McDonald's was our main place, though many kids like Taco Bell because it was cheap. Burger King was McDonald's main competitor. Some people preferred their burgers, but no one I ever knew preferred their fries.

I do remember it being a big deal when I was allowed to order a Big Mac for the first time-felt very "adult."

I also remember being a teen and being able to eat 2 Big Macs, large fries, large coke, and 6 piece of McNuggets.

I also remember Chicken McNuggets coming out and it being a BIG deal. Really big.

I think I remember 98 billion sold going to 99 billion. always wanted to be the 100th billion customer.

I remember when Hardees came out with biscuits, and they were the only fast food chain to have them for a long time. They were thirty cents.

I must have been 6 or so when the Happy Meal debuted. The first movie tie-in I remember them doing on the happy meal was for Star Trek: TMP.

When I was a kid, McD's had the "Color The Weather" thing going with one of the local TV stations, and you'd color a picture of the weather outside and bring it back to McDonald's, then you'd watch that station for the next couple of weeks, hoping they'd show your picture. I'm thinking you'd get a free meal too, but maybe it was just for the fame.

Dang, I was spot-on:

Wikipedia wrote:
A "Happy Meal" is a meal specially tailored for children, sold at the fast-food chain McDonald's since June 1979. A toy is typically included with the food, both of which are usually contained in a small box or paper bag with the McDonald's logo.

Often the Happy Meal is themed to promote a current movie. The first such promotion was the Star Trek Meal, to promote Star Trek: The Motion Picture in December 1979.

Funny, because I can't imagine any kid liking Star Trek: TMP. Unless they needed a cure for child insomnia.

Then you had a newer McDonald's than we did (also a simulation, as it has since been remodeled):

I was almost 6 when ST:TMP came out, and I definitely remember being in a state of breathless anticipation for it. My older brother loved the original series and I HATED it. It was soooo old! When I first saw the promos showing the new Enterprise, and the new uniforms, I told him that he could keep his old Star Trek, and that this one was going to be mine! I even sent away for this boss cutaway Enterprise poster that was offered with....hmm...maybe Cheerios? I think that was it.

Anyway, when the movie finally came out, I think I made it to the transporter accident scene before I fell asleep.

I remember going once every long while to McD's and I would order the Fillet-o-Fish. Stupid kid that I must have been!

Now, it's so hard to stay home and cook anything. We never seem to have the time. Although this month we're doing much better than in the past.

I remember (in the early 90's) stumbling upon a McDonalds that was testing "McPizza".

I love pizza. Even the cheapest supermarket kind, or the crap you'd get at the skate rink.

"McPizza", however, was inedible. :(
