A tougher question. Both had their mounds of shit this decade. Out of the awesome stuff, though...?

I think you gotta give it to DC, IF you include Vertigo / Elseworlds. Mainstream, superhero Marvel or DC? Marvel.

Most of it was shit, especially all the Image influenced Marvel with the Heroes Reborn like Liefeld Cap, etc. but when the Heroes returned, Marvel crankin' up in high gear.

I went for the indies -- not neccessarily for content, just the movement overall.

Though they were no slouches in the content department -- From Hell, Savage Dragon, Hellboy, Madman, Supreme, Concrete, Sin City, etc.

DC wins with Sandman, Enigma, Millar's Swamp Thing, Death, Doom Patrol, Starman, Hellblazer, Books of Magic, and Shade the Changing Man.

DC has an unfair advantage due to Vertigo.

I read some Vertigo, but almost no super-hero books in the '90s. When I look back a the Marvel stuff from that decade, it looks astoundingly awful.

DC had Waid on Flash,Morrison on JLA,and the Archie Legion in two books. All had long runs.
Marvel had some good runs, but they didn't seem to last very long.
Winner:DC.

Off the top of my head, Waid/Garney on Cap and Perez/Busiek on Avengers were both cool.

They lasted 3 issues and Claremont/Larocca took over.

PAD's Hulk was pretty strong, from '90 all the way through '98.

DC wins because of Vertigo.
