My grandparents had an awesome tube radio from the late 40's/early 50's that they let me have. It lasted through the late 70's. I took the cardboard back off of it so that I could watch the tubes warm up. It would crank out a ton of heat and had an awesome smell (for the first few weeks) as the dust would burn off of the tubes.
