Since Cassei is one of my favorite characters. Also the ending felt so anti-climatic after the build up though out the series.
But the art was amazing, one of my favorite artists today. I do wonder if Avengers Academy take s soem fo the thunder away from Young Avengers.
Jimmy Cheung did a great job. I didn't read House Of M, so some of the angst was lost on me. I do think it was interesting that the basis of the story was originally a JB story.
51-Synopsis:Wanda and Vision's children have disappeared, and Master Pandemonium seems to be responsible. 52- Synopsis:The Avengers take on Master Pandemonium, hoping to bring Thomas and William back. Unfortunately, they fail and Agatha takes away her former pupil's memories of her children

Captain America: Winter Soldier Vol. 1 & 2, Red Menace Vol. 1 & 2 - I don't know why I wasn't reading this when it came out, but now I see what I was missing. Brubaker did a real good job in those issues before Cap gets capped, of course these books are missing a few issues(10 & 22-24), but since I didn't feel I missed anything they can be found in back issue bins to read...

I like the early Kirby / Lee issues of Tales of Suspense when they brought him back. They're cheesy, but they have a verve and energy that is difficult to replicate.
Also, they managed to finish a story in less than 20 trade paperbacks. So there is that.

Ha! I agree on the Lee/Kirby Cap run. I love the Sleepers storyline and the Cosmic Cube stuff especially. I also like the Stern/Byrne run and the Mike Zeck and Paul Neary runs in the '80s.
I liked what I read of the early Brubaker run, too. One day I'll finish it.

Another vote for Lee/Kirby's Tales of Suspense Cap.The first one I saw was the MODOK tale.Captain America versus a giant flying head;if that doesn't make you a Kirby fan, nothing will.

I love the Lee/Kirby run, Engleharts run, Stern/JB and the Brubaker run. Liked Waids run but only in comparison to Gruenwalds awful run, doesn't hold up anymore.

One too few . . .
Just read Creator-Owned Heroes (worst title ever) #2. The Trigger Girl story gets better. The post-apocalyptic muscle car story treads water.
The sheer volume of articles and columns is amazing -- I don't know why they didn't think of it before, to put a bunch more content in a book to make it worth the price of admission. It's so quick compared to drawing pages. The writers have extra time to basically "blog" in the book, with photos and interviews.

The Lee/Kirby run is just pure action. The Englehart/S. Buscema run was The Cap run to me before Stern/JB. No one ever rips Gruenwald's long run. I think it had some good arcs, the lows were really low. Don't forget about Dematiess/Zeck run.

Brubaker always calls out the Lee/Kirby, DeMatties/Zeck, Waid/Garney (1st), Stern/Byrne, and Englehart/Buscema runs as his favorites. He politely doesn't mention Gru.

Exactly what I've always had in mind with my manga type books I keep mentioning.

Sorry but for me, Gru's run was the worst. Some decent moments here and there but it never felt like Cap. And if memory serves me right, when Waid took over it felt like that for most fans and they were glad Waid was bringing back the real Cap.
I did like the Dematiess/Zeck run too. Just like Batman, theses runs showed different versions of the character. Lee/Kirby was action packed, Englehart was reflective and political, Stern/JB was pure superhero fun.

I don't remember Gruenwald's run being bad, but looking at mycomicshop.com, I bowed out early, around the time Steve Rogers was in the black suit as The Captain. It looks like he stayed on for a long time, and the covers look horrible.
