Any body reading this? I have just read the first issue and though it is no Watchmen I did find it a thumping good read. I will almost certainly be buying this in hardcover once the story is completed provided the other issues match this first one. This is just the kind of book I like to read since my return to comics five years ago. Good story, good art. I give it 9 webby's out of 10

I bought it, because I like the concept and the issue zero they put out. I haven't read it yet, but glad to hear it's decent. I may go ahead and read it tonight.

I'd like to get this for one reason, and one reason only----that crazy (possibly but not necessarily gay) swashbucker who runs around shirtless. If HE is in issue #1, then I'll buy it. If not, I can wait...

Just read it. This looks like a good series. The art was just my style, and the premise is an interesting one.
And Ed -- yes, the Blue Blade is in it. You'll understand what John means if you read it.

Try to grab the zero issue if they still have it. Apparently, these guys are from real Golden Age Marvel comics. They reprinted three of the old stories.

I liked it a lot (as i said in the other thread).......I didn't know there was a #0 issue. I told my comic book guy, that I was a little uneasy cause JMS has let me down before....he told me that JMS is the most talented writer out there ,that has been letting people down

I thought it was a mistake to put in the scene where the Army finds them. It would have been cool if they wake up in the Army hospital to all appearances in 1945 and we have to figure out that it's 60 years later along with them.
But Garry Leach inks are very cool on anything!

Every single character appeared in at least one Golden Age story. Quote: The Twelve editor and resident Marvel historian Tom Brevoort took on the task of digging through the archives, and in doing so came back with a list of characters that were clearly owned by Marvel. It was from those that Straczynski chose those twelve who could give him the widest range of powers, backgrounds, origins and purposes and "thus the most room for conflict." and this link has a picture of each of the Twelve, what they looked like in the GOlden Age story, and the artists thoughts as he updated the looks http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=125392

But Garry Leach inks are very cool on anything! Absolutely! That would have been clever. But alas... JMS. That's a bit harsh... I realy liked his Supreme Power stuff.

Issue #0 hooked me fer sure (after online articles nabbed my interest). The first issue of the mini was a nice set up. Love the characters. Great art.

I looked through it and it just seemed like JMS trying to do Watchmen so I passed.

Maybe they showed that scene, because all is not as it seems? (otherwise I agree that they should have kept that reveal for the end of the issue) I looked up Dynamic Man ,cause I find they draw him with a German face (and the the fact that he has lightning bolts on his costume doesn't inspire alot of confidence ) Oddly enough in the Golden Age he was billed as "the Dynamic Man, man of the future, the perfect man of today, devoting his super powers to the progress of civilization and the extermination of all it's (sic) enemies. He constantly endeavors to bring closer the world of tomorrow." ...it turns out he is really an Android, and he is very very powerful (I don't know how much of his origin they have kept) http://www.geocities.com/jjnevins/dynamic.html

That's a bit harsh... I realy liked his Supreme Power stuff. I think TV training in his era assumes that the audience is stupid so everything has to be spelled out. Shows that hold things back like Lost and Heroes may have changed the formula a bit.

I saw the previews online. They look like they could be kind of interesting. But it's not to hard to see how they never made it to primetime back in the day. Half of them are basically just generic pulp magazine cover characters with guns. They ought to have quite a time adjusting to the world of today!

Did anyone else notice the German officer groping the unconscious Black Widow character? Spotted that on my second reading and found it odd and unnecessary.

Yeah.My eyes rolled a little when I saw that.Odd since the narration is from the future. How would he have know that it happened?(yes I guess, it might turn out that it is revealed later) I'm a little wary about JMS. Very talented, but he seems to be writing comics like the late 80's early 90's.This stuff isn't shocking to us, because we've seen it before. It's all right to put the heroes through the ringer, but the payoff should be that the Heroes win big. I enjoyed Supreme Power.......at first.I got bored, cause it seemed to drag , and I lost most of my sympathy for the characters(except for the speedster,I guess)
