I had a dream about him once, when I was about 12. We bonded over our bushy eyebrows.

Yup, every afternoon on Channel 46 at 3:30pm, I'd come home from school and watch a Monkees rerun. Today sucks.

When the Monkees were on in prime time, my dad considered their program a hippie show, so I'd have to watch them secretly. No remote for the TV, so I'd sit next to the set with my hand on the dial, then pretend to be looking for something to watch when he walked in. By the time they were on Saturday mornings, he was desensitized to the long hairs to the point that I could watch the Monkees without fear.

From "The Monkee's Paw":
Micky: Are you the High Lama?
Mike: No, he's out back sleeping it off. I'm the Regular Lama.

Love this song, and the film
Head . When I first learned that it was Toni Basil, I did some quick math and was simultaneously creeped out/turned on by a woman in her late 30s wearing a cheerleader's outfit in the video for "Mickey."
