I saw this in another thread and thought it deserved to be broken out into its own thread. Some people come down on one side, some on the other, and this seems like a good place to discuss those different perspectives. I know this is an emotional topic, but let's try to keep the name calling to a minimum.

It's real. This has been verified not only in numerous DC comics, but by the documentary film Congo.
