There are a total of three, Darren. Two of which are the same scene from different angles.

This my friends I do believe is the oldest thread on the board, by which of course I mean the thread that was posted in the longest ago.

*bump*

It's appropriate, because Ditko was superior to Kirby.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, although for the record I think it is totally apples and oranges.

By which I mean Kirby is apples and Ditko is oranges.

And for the record I definitely prefer oranges.

You're actually correct about the apples and oranges. Hanzo have an ongoing simmering cold war about Kirby and Ditko references. So I thought it appropriate that the oldest thread on IMWAN contain that declaration.

Fair enough.

I never even thought to compare them until you mentioned it and now that I am comparing them I can not say with any degree of certitude which is better. Of course it all comes down to opinion and I am slightly more inclined to lean toward Ditko, but a lot of that has to do with him as a person and not him as an artist.

We actually tend to argue about their contribution to Silver Age Marvel. I say that that Lee, Kirby, and Ditko are an inseparable trio, without which we cannot even imagine Silver Age Marvel. I think Ditko's presence and contribution affected the way things transpired.

Hanzo thinks it's more about Lee and Kirby, and we would have seen something very much like what we saw of Silver Age Marvel without Ditko's contribution. He sees Kirby as the main, essential figure, and finds a significant gap between the importance of Kirby and the importance of Ditko.

I think the younger Ditko had an influence on Kirby -- Spider-man being the best run out of the gate, Ditko brought a more intimate personal touch to everything he was given. It helped Kirby raise his game and start pouring more of his creative spirit into the Marvel superhero titles.

This thread is proof of that. :ohyes:

Your views are similar to my own. Had you removed anyone from the equation at Marvel you would likely have had a different end result, Ditko being one of the more important creators even if his final output was relatively small.

It looks distinctly possible, why someone would do that I do not know.
