Hmm, there's a bunch missing.
Road to Perdition would come in at #26 with $218,044,203 when adjusted for inflation. History of Violence would come in at #42 with $67,227,673 Bulletproof Monk, #45, $44,585,069
Oh, the disclaimer says he eliminated the comic-based dramas in favor of all action. Hmm. I think the three above might still make the list, as they all have guns and shooting.
And of course, the Men in Black movies are left off. Big omission.
I'd like to see an all-inclusive list of ALL theatrically-released movies that have comics as the source material.

I do not feel the Green Hornet should be on this list. It was a radio serial first, so not technically a comic book movie.

I can see why he would just focus on the post-X-Men comic book flicks. I can see the other side of the argument too, though. Since his list is including non-superhero stuff like "Cowboys & Aliens" and "From Hell," then starting after a new interest was reignited in superhero films specifically ... that does seem arbitrary.

The whole thing is really kind of vague (dramas vs action, "modern"). He doesn't really say much about the criteria he used, but whatever.

Grandfathered in to Pre-X-men days.
And really who knew MIB was a comic book property prior to it coming out.

The point of the list isn't a "who knew" ... who knew Road to Perdition was a graphic novel, or History of Violence? They were extremely obscure publications prior to the movies coming out.

Now I feel like making a definitive list that covers all theatrical motion pictures sourced from comics.

My criteria would be:
1. Full-length motion pictures, not serials 2. Released theatrically, not direct to video or TV movies 3. Source material is, ultimately, a comic
That's it.

I thought both of those marketing efforts leveraged "based on the comic", since they were made after Comic book movies became hot. I knew before those two hit theaters that they were based on a Comic. MIB I learned after it hit theaters.
But regardless Dude's list is arbitrary. No TMNT (2007) That was a 95M plus movie

That's it. Go for it. Might make for an interesting read.

I had to delete some like the 1966 Batman movie where box office figures are not available.
