I didn't know that Joe Staton was doing this strip. Thanks, Trev.

Brozman (the outgoing artist) gets slagged a lot, but I've never really seen much of his work. That last panel in his final strip... wow. The perspective on the left arm, the size of Tracy's head. Awful. Was his work always like that, or did he just not care anymore because he knew he was outta there? I wonder how many papers Dick Tracy has anymore?

Dick Locher was the outgoing artist. He was good back in the day but really lost his touch.

And that profile of Tracy in the most recent daily is spectacular.

Locher was writing Tracy and Brozman drew it. He started drawing Dick Tracy after Rick Fletcher died in 1983. I used to read Dick Tracy in the New York Daily News.

Ouch. Now here's a crime.

I was just looking at buying at least one of the four Dick Tracy movie serials, and I ran across
this painful chestnut: "There were three sequels to this serial. They were all permitted by an
interpretation of the original contract, which allowed a "series or serial". That meant that, Dick
Tracy creator, Chester Gould was only paid for the rights to produce this serial but not for any
of the sequels."

Yeah, that's exactly right. Locher started drawing the strip in 1983. He started writing it too in 2006. In 2009 he gave up the drawing and has been just the writer for the past year and a half or so.

I was wondering why the folks at GoComics were beside themselves by Joe Staton's art but looking at that last strip it's a wonder Dick Tracy wasn't cancelled all together.

It is a serious upgrade. I think Staton's art looks quite good on Dick Tracy.
Looks like I have a daily (or at least weekly) trip now to GoComics in my future.

Ah. Whoever Brozman was, he was terrible.

I've said it before... we should adopt Joe Staton as the official artist of Imwan.

Trev, it's Mike Curtis, not Joe Curtis.

These strips do look really good. You know Joe Staton isn't the only comic artist to draw an old comic strip. June Brigman drew Brenda Starr until it ended. Graham Nolan draws Rex Morgan, MD. Mike Manley is filling in for Eduardo Baretto on Judge Parker.

Ramona Fradon did Brenda Star before June Brigman and IIRC, Joe Giella inks Mary Worth.

Ramona Fradon did Brenda Starr for years.
