Surely you appreciated the DESIGN of Avatar, if not the weaksauce screenplay?

I totally did, and I backtracked and told him that.

It was just a total Rainman blurt. I heard the word "Avatar" and just said it. As if we were now going to discuss the movie's merits. But then I was like "Wait, we're still talking about your awesome friend. My bad, go on."

Maybe it's me, but it seems like reactions to "Avatar" sort of mirror the reactions people had to "Forrest Gump": they either detested it or thought it was the greatest singular cinematic achievement in the history of mankind.

I can't fault anyone for reflexively saying Avatar wasn't that good.

Never saw Avatar either, but Forest Gump was great and holds up well, IMO.

But from what I've gathered, the plot to Avatar sounds pretty bad, and if I ever do see it, it'll be on T.V. or DVD or Blu-Ray on a smaller screen, so if it depends on the large screen to make it good, I'll probably hate it.

Forrest Gump is not an especially good movie. Sweet and charming, but that's about it.

I believe Ms Hanlol is heavily implying the quote should be "stupid is as bubbles does..."

Had you mentioned the Lionel Richie tape in the car, he would've been reduced to a crumpled shell of a man, sitting on a couch somewhere away from everyone else, rocking back and forth and mumbling to himself. :ohyes:

I'm usually awake at dawn anyways, so that seems like an optimal foightin' time.
Agreed.
