True story: "Brooks" is not his real last name. His given name is Albert Einstein.

His short films during SNL's first few seasons weren't very funny, though.

His movie Real Life was a spot-on prediction of reality television gone wrong. Decades ahead of his time.

His father was comedian Harry "Parkyakarkus" Einstein (Who died as he finished his bit at a Friar's Roast for Desi and Lucy. Milton Berle yelled, "Is there a doctor in the house?" and the audience thought it was a joke).

Albert Brooks' "Lost in America" is one of my favorite comedies of all time, if not my favorite.

Brooks's performance in the recent movie Drive is a scream. He makes inventive use of common cutlery.

I used to absolutely LOVE Albert Brooks,Modern Romance and Defending Your Life are two of my all-time favorite comedies. Lost in America is awesome as well. Sadly, I think he lost his comic mojo about twenty years ago. Haven't seen Drive , though. I look forward to a great Brooks performance. He can be brilliant.
