Heinberg and Cheung back on Young Avengers. My favorite Marvel book, yes MARVEL book, of the last 5+ years is back somewhat and I'm diggin it.
And Cheung is awesome.

I've thought so for a very long time...since he did Iron Man around the time of The Crossing...he did the whole "Teen Tony" arc that was probably the best thing to come out of that mess.
Crimony...That was 15 years ago? Time flies.
I followed him to Scion (for Crossgen) and loved that just as much.

The Young Avengers decide to find the Scarlet Witch. Along the way, they reluctantly team up with Magneto.

I'm waiting for the trade, but Cheung has also been one of my faves for a long while.

Thanks, Hank. I need to track down the previous three issues. Cheung's art looks as terrific as ever: Reading it from the perspective of a fan of this writer and this artist is interesting, because I'm finding it easy to root for the Young Avengers against both the "multi-faceted" villains and the elder Avengers, none of whom I feel any connection with or fondness for anymore.

My thought exactly! I just read this issue. He draws a great Wanda doesn't he? And I love Cassie Lang (and her dad)

And I love Cassie Lang (and her dad) One of the things I loved about the original Young Avengers series, and this series seems to have it too, is that it felt like it was from some alternate universe where Marvel's superhero line had continued to become more sophisticated, but without losing any sense of where it had originally come from. I like comics done this way ... I guess it's just a cult interest now, though. (You've got to wonder how these stories and artwork even got past Quesada to begin with.) I'm really glad to have this team back on a series.

For what it's worth -- Quesada has said repeatedly in interviews that he loves Young Avengers, that it was something special enough that he would wait for Heinberg to become available again rather than assigning another writer. Apparently the fact that he's willing to produce crap if he thinks it will sell does not mean that he doesn't recognize great, classic-style Marvel comics when he sees them. It's just that he won't devote the whole company to producing them.

I loved the original run of Young Avengers. And I've been a fan of Cheung's going back to CrossGen. (Scion was leaps and bounds better than the other titles.)

I'm enjoying the series a lot. I think the Young Avengers are great characters. I hope this has a definite resolution/redemption with Wanda.
Wolverine is an ineffectual douche.

They should make a comic team of all of Wolverine's offspring. You know there's got to be more out there.

Wolverine is an ineffectual douche. Not a fan of him on the Avengers 9same with Spiderman). But he has a point. I hope Wanda comes back and undoes the nonsense the writers made her do and BRING BACK SCOTT LANG!!

Man I just read the One-Shot and issue five and I LOVE Heinberg on these characters. Young Avengers, done by him and Cheung, is without a doubt my favorite Marvel book in the last who knows how many years.
And I love Cassie Lang. I know she's not real but I just want to hug her.

The one-shot confused me. It seemed to be pointless, or just more tie-in bulk. And is Cassie supposed to be Stinger or Stature, or both?
The new issue of the regular series was very good, and the art was beautiful. Cheung is the best artist Marvel currently publishes, IMLO.
