Giacoia did a really nice job on those DD pencils. I don't think his style would work for Colan's more supernatural work (Dracula, Dr. Strange), but Frank G was great on Colan's superhero art.
I think Klaus Janson worked well on both.

I love how when Colan drew Iron Man, Ol' Shellhead's eyes seemingly changed to reflect his emotions. Hard to do when you're wearing a metal helmet -- but it just felt "right."

Ayers is pretty good over Colan -- definitely a lighter touch than he used on Kirby. Colan made some interesting choices on those pages. Cap's back is to the viewer in almost every panel.

I LOVE that Falcon page. That is how comics should look.

WOW! Sinnott was awesome over Colan! He interpreted Colan's "graytones" nicely.

I remember liking Syd Shores' inks over Colan's work when I was a kid.
I think they made a good team.
There are many here who thought Shores overpowered Kirby and changed too much, but I think his embellishments were more successful with Gentleman Gene.

Wow, That Jack Abel inking is great. A lot more fluid and "loose" than what he did on Colan's Dracula pencils. Abel's inking failed to capture the eerie mood Colan brought to Tomb of Dracula. Palmer was the perfect fit.

Jack Abel's inks on TOD #10. I got really spoiled by Tom Palmer on Tomb of Dracula.

Bolgani Gogo wrote: Palmer's the MAN! Yup! That fluid brush line and delicate, evocative pen work. THE BEST!! I can only imagine that Colan was thrilled to see his pencils interpreted by Palmer. I know as a reader, I was!
