Rowan Atkinson is in hospital after being involved in a car crash. The TV and film actor was taken to Peterborough General Hospital after his McLaren F1 car left the road in Haddon, Cambridgeshire, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Mr Bean and Johnny English star injured his shoulder in the incident, with one onlooker telling the newspaper he 'cheated death', commenting:Rowan is lucky to be alive considering the state of the car.
It's believed his car smashed into a tree then a lamppost before catching fire. Atkinson managed to scramble from the wreckage and was being cared for by another motorist when paramedics arrived.
Atkinson's latest film role is in franchise reboot Johnny English Reborn, which is due to be released on October 28.
He is also known for his performances in TV comedies such as Blackadder, Not The Nine O'Clock News and The Thin Blue Line.
Atkinson had recently appeared on the 'star in a reasonably priced car' segment of Top Gear, an episode that was being repeated on TV station Dave tonight (August 4) around the time of the incident.

Glad he survived. I do gotta wonder if the Johnny English sequel can really qualify as a "franchise reboot." Not that that matters, just some bad wording on the part of whomever wrote that article.
