Need some input/advice on getting a new cell phone and a monthly plan for it. It's my one and only phone, so I need some flexibility in terms of having enough monthly minutes and finding a good value for a monthly plan. All I want is a phone I can talk on -- I don't want or need a iPhone, android or any contraptions like that. HELLLP!!

I split the difference between a smart phone and a bare bones phone with an LG Neon through AT&T's Go Phone. I use their monthly unlimited calling and text plan for $60, prepaid. The LG can do some browsing and can play games, but isn't a Droidy iPhonic type appfest.

AT&T's network reliability went in the toilet about a year ago but has improved some in the last few months. When they gobble up T-Mobile I expect it to get better.

All I can say is be wary of Motorola products at this point. The last couple we've had have been pretty spotty on reliability (smart and not so smart phones) and the support has been pretty crappy as well (promised updates not being delivered).

Just take whatever generic free phone your provider will give you with a contract. If you don't want/need something that you wouldn't be able to live without once you had ( ), no need to be choosy.
