Gratuitous picture of Anna Paquin as Rogue, found while searching for images of Rogue's different costumes.

Cyclops worked, IMO. When you break it down, it's a pretty minor update of his classic costume.
Jean's also looked good, and is a personal favourite, but I fully admit that it is a very generic costume.
Rogue's also worked. I don't think it was a bad costume. I'd say it was quite good really, considering it still looked pretty good well past the time that the individual elements were considered 'dated'. Agreed about Cyclops. Basically the classic costume, but with some 90s buckles and straps, and the cowl gotten rid of so we can see Scott's gorgeous head of hair.Strongly disagree about Jean's, though. The blue and orange is a pretty bad color choice, I think, and if you go backwards from Lee to all the other costumes that character has worn, Lee's is at the very bottom, I think. Maybe it's just that it suffers from comparison, since I think Cockrum's green and yellow Phoenix design is the single best superhero costume of all time. Rogue's is too busy, I think. I much preferred the green and black look that she had during Silvestri's era. While I love the Lee costume for Jean, you can't beat her Phoenix outfit for the absolute best fit for her. I agree with you there, it's a fantastic design, and easily one of the best costumes ever done. I do think it was supposed to be blue and gold though, not the blue and orange it was depicted as. I could be wrong there, though. The black and green look for Rogue was admittedly before my time, so it always seemed incredibly dated to me. I really love her current costume, it's my personal favourite for her.

The closest is Gambit's costume and it looks fucking awful. I liked his designs for Psylocke, Deathbird, Nick Fury's uniform when he turned up in UXM and X-Men and Rogue's costume from X-Men 1 on. Rogue's is probably the most striking design; it's what I see when I think of her.

I'm appalled by Doot's clever making of this a stealth X Men thread.

The collars were the least of my design concerns. Wonder Woman I give a pass on, as I think that would have happened anyway, due to the timing. Batman I want a better look at, as it does look similar to some designs he did for ASBAR that looked okay from other angles. It could also be influenced from the designs created for Mortal Kombat vs DCU, or more likely - Batman Arkham Asylum, which was extremely popular. Superman I also want to see full-figure first. I wouldn't really care either way though, Superman is Aquaman to me. I also don't really think that any change to Superman will stick around. I think the red trunks are always going to around. Actually, I wonder if all 3 of these designs weren't mandated fairly heavily by others? Superman's is similar to his look in Superman:Earth One, by the looks of it, which was the best-selling OGN of last year. Batman looks like his Arkham Asylum look, a hugely popular video game, and/or a fusion of his traditional comic look, with a bit of the techier look we see in the massively popular Nolan films. Wonder Woman resembles the look she would have had in the expected tv show, had it been greenlit. I wonder if they were largely decided upon by others, not Lee?

I would rather have seen Alex Ross design the new outfits, personally. He does a nice job usually. The new designs I've seen so far, so so. some like GL, Aquaman, Batman and Cyborg work well enough as they've always tweaked their look here and there. Superman and Flash, it looks like he just couldn't figure out what to do so made goofy little adjustments, pretty lame. Wonder woman now looks like a hooker.

and Lee's designs usually smack too much of Image in the '90's and that's best left to the '90's. superman shouldn't have kneepads and clunky boots.

I've seen that comment a fair bit, and I honestly don't understand how Wonder Woman looks like a hooker in that outfit?

Lee's design is so busy, there is nothing to really lock onto, for me. The word "punch" implies directness, but the Lee's Rogue design is so scattered and chaotic. I can't see how this packs more punch than this

It's about as bad as Jim Lee's crappy DC redesigns.

Jim Lee's Sabretooth design was great.
I always forget that one.

I was introduced to X-Men through the cartoon show, so I'm partial to his designs.
